WOW I REALLY BEEN M.I.A ON HERE SMH

1st annual FAIL *exploited children by Century 21*

I have just left Century 21 Department Store 1st Annual Easter fashion show in REGAL PARK Store # 60, in which my daughter and little sister participated in; to say the very least my experience was unbelievably appalling. Disorganization, Distasteful employee morale, and an overall disrespect is what I have been given for my time and support today. I can truly say not only would I NEVER partake in another, but I will also ensure that I, as well as my family and friends, will not patronize ANY Century 21 with our business again!

Firstly, after a 45 – 60 minute delay, the weight of disorganization and chaos took a toll on the bulk of everyone attending. There were no refreshments and children were given the HR room to change in as a group of boys and girls in ages varying from 2-10. During the fashion show a photographer took pictures for which we signed no release for. In addition Staff gave the impression to all the children participating that they would be able to keep the outfits they were given to model, this fact later proved to be false. As a result I had to pacify my 3 year old daughter and 4 year old sister of the disappointing reality that they would not be able to keep the clothes, which is not the easiest task when dealing with toddlers. After the children modeled these fashions they were told gift bags were to be picked up upon exit. These much anticipated gift bags were not easy to track down as no one was designated to hand out these “gifts”. It also seems no one wanted the responsibility to try to organize the chaotic crowd. Finally amongst receiving the “token of their appreciation”, it revealed to be nothing more than several pieces of individual CANDY.

Secondly, even after our disappointment, my family and I decided to do some shopping and tried on some items. We spent an additional 2 hours in the store shopping and picked out merchandise totaling $200+. Upon entering the check-out line, we came across the manager, Filomena, who was also in charge of the children portion of the fashion show. We simply asked her if there was any type of discount we could receive and the response we were given before we were allowed to finish our question was a cold “NO”. As a result of being told that no discount could be applied for our participation in the fashion show we asked if they give store credit or “military discount”. Again, a cold “NO” was given along with a “Candy is all we can give”.  To conclude, we then asked that any picture taken not be used as we did not sign a release. She then replied saying that she “thinks” they would only be used “in-house”. When we inquired further we were told that the photographer left and were given no recourse on the matter.

Inquiring further about a possible discount, I asked my brother who also works at the store, and who I hope this does not later affect due to my recourse of action, if he could ask his store manager if something could be done in our favor.  When the store manager, Steve, came over to speak with us he also with the same tone and dismissal as the previous, denied our simple inquiry. He then added, “we are a discount store and all our items are already discounted, so that’s all you get”

Finally, in the realization that Filomena had no intention of resolving the situation, my brother asked if he could use his store discount to purchase the items, even if he had to punch out to do so. Steve, the store manager, said abruptly, “Not if you’re going to buy it for them, that’s a quick way to get fired!”

Not only am I disgusted and shocked by my experience, but I truly feel my child as well as all others in attendance were exploited. They have shown me that not only does Century 21 not honor customer satisfaction but they do not uphold any level of honor for their employees or veterans for that matter. The Consequence of today’s events, to my child being a disposable pawn to their overall advantage, led to the loss of a once loyal customer, which, judging by Filomena and Steve’s reactions, were hardly cared about. Therefore it is my priority to make my experience known to every media and social outlet I can think of , in hopes that my words will be heard by someone who still cares in a society where monopoly businesses allows customer service to wither with their success.

With Sincere Disappointment Signed,

An outraged parent of an Exploited Child
